About this tool
This tool shows the public IP address your device is browsing from, along with a rough approximate location (country, region, city) derived from that IP. Your IP address isn't something a webpage can determine on its own with client-side code — it comes from request headers set by the hosting network as your request reaches the server, which is why this is one of the few tools on this platform that makes a request to its own server rather than running entirely in your browser.

Why isn't my exact location shown?
IP-based location is inherently approximate — it typically reflects your internet provider's regional infrastructure, not your exact address, and can be off by anywhere from a few miles to an entire city depending on your provider and connection type (e.g. mobile data is often less precise than home broadband).
Why does my IP look different from what another site shows me?
If you're using a VPN, proxy, or your mobile carrier's network, the IP address a website sees is whichever server or gateway your traffic is routed through — not necessarily the address assigned directly to your device. Different services may also see you connecting through different regional edge servers.
